I found this on craigslist...

http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/pts/1522216297.html

its like its brand new, came right off the showroom floor...but the guy says its impossible to get a title, I dont know much about titles, but how could it be impossible? is it stolen? can't you get a new title for it?

I just wanna buy the whole thing for a "parts" truck but my gut is telling me STOLEN!!!!!

whats an engine?
I think the guys on crack. there are holes in the seat the front carpet is faded as is the carpet in the cargo area. :icon_confused: but your right it would make a good parts rig. i could use some parts.
he says 77k. it looks more like 177k. when i bought my b2 4 years ago it was alot cleaner than that. and it had 68k on it.

I would be under the assumption he filed a false report on it saying it was stolen. Probably had it in storage and pulled the tags and switched it to one he could have burnt up. Seen it in Detroit too often. Long as the parts you need dont have a vin, no harm no foul imo.

Why part a truck with 77,000 miles? Would you? I wouldn't. Run fast and far. At the very least you are dealing with someone who is lying to you.

I may be Salvage branded. In many cases an S branded vin can't have a new title generated on it. It's not likely though since it looks so good, but and S branded car isn't gonna have much worth taking off since the fastest way to a Salvage branding is to flood it.

Why would you plan on driving a car that you can't register anyway?

Wow that looks really nice. I wonder how it blew a brake line at 77K miles?

You can tell if a five digit ford odometer has 77,000 or 177,000 (or maybe 277,377, etc) by whether or not there is a gap between the tenths and the ones spot. Once it has flipped a gap opens up and the numbers don't match up perfectly. At least that is what I have been told. Seems to have held true in my experience

In Michigan you can get a title for an abandoned vehicle. I found out about this because when I bought the Explorer vehicle for my doner the owner was to send me the title after my check cleared. Well the title did not show up so I called the sheriff office and determined that the vehicle had a clean title. Much relief there. He told me about the abandoned vehicle approach. Howeverf, The title did show up in the mail about a month later.
