the leak is from the poorly sealed windshield. it just happens to pool up near the computer. but it is normaly 9 inches or so away from it unless i spill a beer there and then the old lady has a cow

They are both autos...

And I don't see why an 88 wouldn't work in an 89... unless the 88 is a manual trans computer and the 89 is an auto trans. An auto trans computer will work in a manual but not the other way around (and if you put an auto trans computer in a manual trans truck, the computer usually spits out a code because it can't find the trans, lol, but other than it's complaint that your trans is missing, it works fine.)

It's like you have ESP... Actually all the parts are pulled... so we are just really going to be picking up parts...

Yeah. A 6-cyl TFI is a 6-cyl TFI. I ran my truck for 4 years off a TFI from a 91 3.0 Taurus.
Actually I believe the TFI off of a V-8 is also the same part number. If I remember correctly, only the fullsize trucks with the TFI on the inner fender have a different part number.

another thing, we have spark but it is weak. If the timing chain was broke would you still get spark at the plugs? Compression is 115 at 5 cylinders and 110 on one.

No timing chain = no spark.

The chain runs the cam, the cam runs the dizzy, the vane wheel on the dizzy makes the signal for the spark.

Have you replaced your coil yet?

This is got me over a barrel. Kinda wish I could come look at it myself, it'd be easier to figure out.

doubtful, but I suppose it isn't impossible. I've seen dumber things.

Matter of fact, I've seen a shorted TPS cause a no-start on a Crown Vic Interceptor, right off the truck.
