if i start my 87 b2 up and drive it when it is cold it wont shift gears stuck in 1st/2nd and the about 10 mins of driving i get random shifting into 3rd and then eventually shifting as usual. the truck only has 100100 kilometers.

My 89 BII does this too. I also notice that when its cold the RPM's are like 300-500 higher than after normal driving. Like say when it does finally upshift into 4th (after around 5-10 mins) its at like 2500-2600 RPM's and its normally at about 2300 RPM's (always doin 55mph). I just figured it was a "feature".

I would start by changing the Trans fluid and filter. That might be whats doing it.

Drain the torque converter too if you can. That holds almost 2 gallons by itself.
