I thought so. I really didn't want to weld the new axle. This is removable, and I am pretty sure thats what caused the last carrier to break. Whether it was weakened from welding or a weak weld that broke loose and locked up the rear. Now I don't have to worry about it.That's a good price on the mini...
Ummm...you can still get an 8.8 in an F150 1997-present. They came behind some 4.6L V8 trucks and all 6 cylinder trucks.Full size fords after 97 went to a different axle it was no longer the standard 8.8. It's a 9.75 axle like wiki says that came standard.
Bray, you are correct. A C clip eliminator is needed for a full spool for any C CLIP axle...I'm not a fan of mini spools for that exact reason.
Full spools don't exist (to my knowledge) for c-clip axles.
A properly welded carrier is definitely stronger than a mini spool application.
