hey everyone. im brand new to this. I thought I would drop in and introduce myself. I just picked up my first bronco 2 yesterday. Ive been surfing these threads for the past month. and its been fun watching others builds and fixes. anyways.

SPECS:
1990 Bronco 2 XL
92,000 all original
2.9 5speed 2WD
original Alabama Vehicle.
No RUST!

paid $950
came with carfax.

Im no mechanic, but iv owned my share of vehicles. I learn by doing and from others. so i might ask newbie questions, i only hope you guys understand and walk me through. As i learned from a NCO in the army - No question asked deserves no answer. So anyways Hi guys and Gals.

my pal Nanuk in the last photo.

Does it have the dummy transfercase on it? or did they get rid of it by 1990? What are your plans for it?

It dost have the dummy transfer case, which was disappointing, but im not butt hurt about it either.
i know it has the 8.8 rear end.

I wanna keep it a daily driver, so im thinking of swapping out the suspension for the explorer suspension. maybe swap the 2.9 for the 4.0, what do you recommend i do to it?
as of now it needs new brakes. the pedal is all the way to the floor. dosnt stop real well.
but its pretty clean and to be honest i could see running it the way it is for awhile. maybe get some wheel and tires. but uncle sams taking forever to give me my gi bill money. so im thinking when i get the cash i might just pick up another b2 or explorer and beef the hell out of that.

If I had a 2wd 2.9L 5spd I would savor the gas mileage! I have the 4wd 2.9 5spd and I get pretty phenomenal mileage (25mpg)....I get pretty acurate with my mileage because I drive my truck 200 miles a day

If I had your truck I would make it a mission for mileage..

I would def swap the rear end out for a latter model ex with the disk brakes - but before anything I would undercoat the HELL outta that truck or it will evaporate with all the salt they throw on the roads up here. One day you'll come out into the driveway and there will just be a pile or rust...

8.8? Someone already swapped it? Why do that yet leave it 2wd?

haha ya thats to funny, its so common in these northern states.
ya thats what i think im gonna aim for it with this b2. like I said Im gonna try to get a hold of another b2 4x4 some time soon, and make that my baja monster.

but until then its all about saving the buck. because only god knows here in michigan every dollar helps with this poor economy.

Im just stoked to own a B2! I have loved these machines forever.

4.0 swap for sure.. once you do it, you'll wonder why it took you so long. and as far as the 4x4 conversion, it shouldn't be hard. get a 4x4 explorer donor rig for the 4.0, d35, t/case, trans, and rear axle(explorer 8.8 is 31 spline) if your rear is the 28 spline...
