ok finally about to be back on the road after my exhaust is legal lol

taxes coming in the mail soon looking at putting some new rubber on the wheels...

what i have on it are 16 inch wheels from the junkyard off a mercury mariner.... i have the original 15 inch wheels for the b2 and i am about 90% sure i want to put the originals back on...

so i need a tire to fit the original 15 inch wheels... this is going to be a daily driver but i also plan to venture off the pavement from time to time so would like a nice tread pattern maybe even all terrain? but i want to get a tire that will give it a look like it has been lifted a little...

no obviously tires arent going to make a huge difference and jack it up in the air but i would like to find something that atleast picks it up a little and also gives it a mean look lol

my friend was talking about doing 31 inch tired on his jeep is that possible for me with a 15 inch wheel? any suggestions are great... thanks in advance...

the 950-15's fit all the time and the 10.5-15's fit some of the time.A lot of material on that very subject here.

All are at's. All 3 do great on road. I've owned a set of all 3 and honestly the dynapro's have been my favorite (but they are also the 33's; others were 30's)

I'm running a 4 inch ROugh country lift and 285/75-16's. Some trimming required probably. But for 33's I'd suggest a regear also.

What gears do you have? It's not as simple as just upgrading tires sometimes.
Even 31 inch at's can get you decently far with a limited slip rear or a locker(or 2). But don't spend money on the stock axles: do the d35/8.8 swap from an explorer.

not sure of the gears its stock as far as i know and i dont have to big a plans for it just yet... although im sure i will eventually put the dana 35 front end and possibly a small lift down the road... will 31's be a bad idea if i havent upgraded the gears or axle or anything like that?

bigger tires = lower rpm so reference charts in technical area here to see what you are signing up for...

If you go BIG then charts will tell you what gear$ are recommended...

I had 31's on my project step child with no lift and stock 3.45 gearing. Now I alo have a 4.0 in it too so that made a difference on power. Go to my step child build thread in my sig. and you can get an idea what it will look like. With the stock 2.9 I wouldn't recomend a 31in. tire without at very least having 3.73 gears. It just don't have the torque to spin them from a dead stop.

so that pic with the 31's is with no lift in it? and it sounds like it wasnt running then did you ever run it with the 31s and the 2.9 on stock gears? what would be a good suggestion of the biggest i could go without losing to much power? my next big thing on it is to change the clutch which is almost non existent haha how big/expensive of a job would it be to change the gears?

I run 235/75-15s on my BIIs and they do very nicely for road and trail running. Just wide enough to get traction in most types of terrain including highway, fuel mileage is good and they fill the wheelwells out nicely without killing the pocketbook.

I've used and like the Firestone Destinations, Cooper Discoverys. I have been running the cheap $55/tire Goodyear Wranglers that I picked up at Wally World. They are actually pretty good tires. Just pulled some very hefty trailers with them also on my Ranger. My son in law has been running them on his Grand Cherokee as has a friend of mine at work.

Didn't scrub except for when you turn the front wheels to full turn. Didn't do any really serious flexing with it but what I did it done fine. I only ran them on step child with the 4.0 engine.
The blue one in my avatar pic now has the 31's on it. It has the 2.9 still w/an A4LD and 3.73 gears. What little I have driven it it seems to do fine.

look for a data tag on the rear axle... or look at the door code.
look in tech library to figure out how to read both.

like this... 235s are right at 30'' right? gonna look into this size tire i believe thanks

yeah, 30x9.5's are slightly larger than 235-75's. Depends on the brand though too

55 dollar good year wranglers from wally world? were those used or new all the tires i have been looking up online are 100 bucks and up!

I found some like new tires at the pick and pay for thirty a piece , sometimes you get lucky

just remember there is a tire guy at the local auto auction on mondays i guess kinda like what you said pick and pay... gonna check that out monday and see if i can find anything gotta take it to the shop for an alignment anyway ill get them to mount and balance the tires. will putting the explorer leaf springs in after getting an alignment change anything? or should i put the new leaf springs in before getting it aligned...
