Well, while Jay lays up in the house from being sore from riding all day yesterday, I got a little work done on WCB2...
Last weekend I needed the trailer to do some hay haulin, so WCB2 had to come off the trailer. But where would I put the body...A plan quickly came about...

On to the work, didn't feel like crawling under the frame to pull the axles, so I made it easier on me...Anyone else pull axles this way??

Made it a lot easier to get to the RA bolts, as well as the beam brackets...

So, after about 15 minutes, I pulled the last bolt, the pivot beam bolt out of the driver side beam (Pulled the driver side beam bracket with the beam, passenger side was riveted to frame), the complete front axle went one way, the frame went the other!! I love how a plan comes together!!

Time for the rear axle, the front spring bolts came out easy, the rear hanger bolts were a little more stubborn, I broke my ratchet on it, so....

And here is everything in one after shot dismantled...

Here is the frame stripped right side up sitting on blocks to keep it out the mud...

The front frame horns are bent pretty bad, so before any more cutting can be done on the front, they need to be straightened...

And here is Bullet loaded up with leftover parts headed for the scrapyard. I hate to get rid of him, but with the bed needing replaced, the 2 front doors replaced, the whole front clip, and the engine, its better to let it go to the scrapyard than to fix it :bawling:

I couldn't get the lug nuts broke loose cause they were so swolen from rusting, they had to stay on the axles, which made it a little more difficult to load, especially since I had only me to load it...Loaded both the front and rear axles by hand over the side of the bed (not an easy task :nono:). So after I did that, I felt a small pinch in my shoulder blade when I breathe deep/yawn, so I definitely stretched my muscle, maybe even pulled it, so that is the end of my day, time to close the shop for the day and hope I feel better tomorrow...

Well, took a little escort parts getter trip today over near Paris, TN.
Had to go parts hunting at a boat JY. Picked this little jewel up, paid more than I wanted, less than a new one. Needs another bung welded in, the fill spout moved, and build a mount. All doable. :icon_welder:
Brother Copperhead going to help me out with the tigging! :icon_welder: Got a old bedframe laying around going to chop up for a mount. :icon_welder:
24"x17"x10"=18 gals.
Fits right in the factory spot, level with the bottom of the frame. Will have to move the driver's side upper shock mountto in front of the axle.

Kind of sitting in the original spot. Yes, shock mount in the way.

Shock mount issue.

Even has a sending unit. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. :dunno:

nice cell, if you are doing this as a designated trail rig, why do you need a fuel gauge?

seems to me that the sending unit (which should have a pump built in) would work with just 12v...

Because I'm an old man with a poor memory & I'd like a gauge to tell my dumbass to stop at the pumps, when the aforementioned Sensei is not with me, before I run out & don't make it to the trail? :icon_idea:

On a technical note concerning sending units;
They do work off of whatever voltage system they are designed for (there are some 6v systems) and they are not real conducive to interchange.
They are however designed & operate on a resistor system & develope/operate at different ohms. I'm not familiar with who uses what, but I do know that Ford & chevy are different. Also all the HDs I've worked on, some for certain years do not work with other years. It's hunt & peck, or test with ohm meter & specs chart to make fit.
As the float rises & falls it developes & transmits a different voltage to the gauge causing it to rise or fall in accordance with where the float is. If the 2 are not conducive to each other, you will get incorrect readings.
Contrary to what some of you TBers may think, I know more about all this shit than you think I do.

Sounds good, uncle Wimpy...I mean, Limpy, might be able to answer the phone and take messages, so he's worth about mininum wage (maybe), me and you, though, are highly skilled technicians, so our salary is worth a little more...Would I need to bring my toolbox?? If I do, we'd need to expand the store...I don't think I'd fit...
