I'm thinking about picking up a 2pc rear hatch for the BII. It has the lift glass and mine doesnt. Guy wants $40 for it, struts are good and there are no cracks or damage to it, I would just have to sand and paint.

So is it worth the $40 or does that seem a little high?

Well, it's prolly worth about $10 in scrap, so 40 sounds good to me.

Since they are somewhat highly sought after, I would say its a good price. Junkyard would charge that at minimum.

$40 it is then. Sounds like a guaranteed $10 for my old one too. Win Win.

I'm going to pick this up today.

Is your hatch metal? Mine is fiberglass.

I just paid 50 for one delivered, so def worth it. I was actually thinkin bout hackin mine in half, adding a tailgate. So I could have a hybrid hatch.

That would be the beauty of it. You would only lose like 12-14 inches of the hatch and gain a tailgate to sit on.

That would definitely be cool. I think I'll try it out on my old hatch, that way when I screw it up I wont feel too bad about it. The old one isnt really any good for anything else I guess.

4.0B2- I think he's talking about using a Ranger tailgate. I hear that is a bolt on affair...I think?

I definitely want to try it, I just need to start looking around for a cheap tailgate. I'll get some pics when I get started on it.

I picked it up yesterday. There are 2 small cracks in the top corners, by the glass. Struts are good, and the power lock works. I got it sanded and primed this afternoon and bolted on. I still have to fine tune so it closes right though.

Uh pics or it didn't happen?
lol, it most certainly did happen. But just in case I'll get some pics up tomorrow, hopefully after i can get it to close good. It's still a little off and wants to drag on the drivers side. Still need to drill and bolt on the mounting bracket for the spare tire carrier, the new one didnt have one....maybe someone filled it in, I thought they all had them from the factory.
