And some work today. Redid buckets, cleaned some things up, and splashed a little paint.

I think you mean D50.....

they use D60 hubs, so those nuts prolly too big for your 44....

l8r, John
Nope it was the HD44. There was an F250 with a D50 there too.

is that a spindle on the coil buckets?
No. I reused the 1.5" flange that held the XJ coils on the 35. That way I could use the XJ isolators. Then screwed in a 6" long pipe into it.

As stated, you are mistaken. F250's came with either a Dana 44HD or Dana 50 TTB. Most trucks with a 460 or 6.9 got the 50, where as most 351 and smaller trucks got the 44HD. However, there is a plethora of variations, and any combination you can think of. So one cannot assume that because it is a 250, it is a 50. The Dana 44HD uses 44 size axleshafts, 44 u joints, and 44 lockouts. Only the 50 uses 60 outers.

Anyone seen spindle nuts like these?

Yes. They are a cartridge style locknut. The rear of a sterling 10.5 has the same setup, only larger.

Looking good buddy.

Thanks man. I am going to swap them in next time I have it apart. Should there be anything else? Another nut or is that the only thing?

No, it is a one nut system, just line up the tab on the case with the groove in the spindle, just like you would the lock washer with a 2 nut system. Not sure the spec on that nut, but usually you torque it to a certain value, than back off a couple clicks.

Seen this today. Thought about taking the flat top knuckles, but decided against it.

Also been thinking about what rear axle to run. My original plan was a FW 8.8 so all I'd have to do is have my gears swapped over. But I don't want to go back to drums and only the newer ones with the metric lug pattern have discs. I read up on modding Ex rear discs to fit and then looked at other options like the Dodge 9.25" rear. Same pattern, discs, and stronger, but then I'd need gears. Oh well, still weighing my options.

Also got someone from Indy thats really interested in my 35. Hope to sell it soon.

I'd do the full width 8.8
I'm sure you can do a disc setup

Dustin, grab an 8.8 front a mid 80's F 150, swap the gears over, the disc brakes will swap over, you will just need to either redrill the Rotors or get new ones. I hear the metric 5 lug is close enough to the standard size that the runs will still work. I'm sure you can verify this at the jy...
