I had a post about looking for longer sway bar links, or drop brackets.

I wanted to discuss the topic a little further;

I've heard:

You can use sock rear Explorer links for the front with a lift.
or 80-96 F150 links Im told work as well.
I believe I read somewhere that the longer Skyjacker links weren't much longer than stock.

So my question is, what are my options for longer sway bar links on a Bronco II? The front link is a straight link, so I would imagine there would be more options. What about the rear?

No, I don't want to get rid of them. I've ditched them on the Ranger, but want to keep them on the B2.

I would try to make my own. Or extend the stockers.

Some small rod ends and tubing, easy enough to make.

Well I have both a 98 explorer and a Ranger with a BII swaybar in my back yard. If I get a chance before someone else gives you a definite answer I'll do some checking.

I'm gonna be using Jeep JKS quick disco's when I do my d35 swap on my b2... they are adjustable and plenty long, so my plan is to get rid of the drop brackets that came with my RC lift and using the JKS disco's. I'll do a writeup of what all is involved when I get there. I've already got it figured out that it'll work.

rear? I have no idea, even with my 4" RC lift my rear sway bar stayed intact till I yanked the sway bar off during the 8.8 swap

Ok took a tape measure to both when I got home from work. The explorer end links are 1.5" longer than the BII links by my measure. Holding them side by side, the design and offset of both appeared to be exactly the same just different lengths.

The Explorer is a 99 2wd EB with V8, the links measured 11" overall.

The BII year and drive train is unknown, believe it to be ~90 model 4wd, but it is the large 1" bar with the matching end links. These measured about 9.5" overall length.

For the front if they are metal links I'd just do as suggested above and extend them, shouldn't be too hard if you can weld (I can't). I have seen some factory front end links that are plastic though, don't know what to tell you for those.

I keep hearing talk of quick disconnects but never seen them. Got any pics or links you could share? Are these just for the TTB/TIB RBVs or can they be gotten for the later model SLA rigs as well? Obviously the rear would be the same but I've never seen them for that either.

It's a jeep thing... Most Jeepers never disconnect the rears. Just the fronts. Google JKS quick disconnects and you'll see some pics of it done on solid axle rigs.

they make different types, but basically, they look like this. my buddy had some on his CJ, the word "quick" did not belong anywhere near the word "disconnect" though.

Looks to me like you could do the same thing on a TTB/TIB front suspension. Just use a large clevis pin, like one for a tractor, in place of a bolt on factory end link. Unfortunately that won't work on an SLA set-up as its one long bolt with two bushings on either end. Something else could probably be rigged up might have to check into it someday. Most of the offroading I do doesn't seem to be hindered to much by the sway bars.

I don't see why you wouldn't want to be able to disconnect the rear if you are able to disconnect the front. Something like that set up would probably be able to work there as well.

you want some body lean control on your rig when rock crawling..

and you can make some homemade quick disco's... plenty of people have done it, even on here if you look around.
