so im looking to buy a B2 here some time. Besides all the typical car stuff, is there anything i need to look out for with one of these trucks? certain years that had better options than others?

i was thinking about this truck......

Don't get one is a pretty good place to start. My B2 is the highest cause of stress in my day to day life, first off every day i have to hear it misfire and i have no idea what to do, also the smoke coming out of the tail pipe is blue as can be until i replace those valve guide seals. Also no matter what i do she idles at like 1800 rpm in park or neutral..... My biggest suggestion is get a sploder with a 4.0 or even a 5.0. Just do some searching if youre intent on getting a b2 the info about what tranny you want and everything is out there somewhere, also dont forget rangers are the exact same thing as B2s minus a big cab basically.

If it was built after 11/89, snag it. It'll have the d35 and m5od

No, it'll have the D35 front axle and 13-54 T-case if built after 11/89, but 2.9 trucks were fitted with
the "iMsoshitty" FM146 until the end of production.
As were 2.9 Rangers until the end of 1992.

SOME 2.9 trucks got the M5OD-R1, but unless you bought a 2.3 or 4.0 4x4 truck
you were never sure

Trans Code "M" is what you are looking for to be sure of getting an M5OD-R1

It would be purely a project. Not a DD. I want a b2 because my recently deceast father had one back in 1990 that had a SAS and for 9 inch. A lot of his bronco buddies said it was the most balanced and best off road vehicle they had ever seen. And they are all early bronco lovers.

Well, he wants about $500-600 too much for it.

And Brownie, that is YOUR B2. They are not all such piles. Mine runs and drives quite nicely, it just has some cosmetic damage around the corners (literally).

That's not real far out of line for a good-running southwest truck (few having body rot, but often needing paint, as appears is the case here).
Looks like it has a FM146 by the shifter handle.
Agreed, if it has a D35 frontend, grab it.

5-600 too much eh???:shok::shok::shok: rewally??

have you ever been to newmex/az/california??

thats a priceless artifact in detroit roadsville or most of the salt belt.

its quite possible you may have never seen a b2 as solid as that one likely is.

i never cease to be amazed.

Never been farther than Nashville.

Also, come look at what I've been doing at work for the last month and tell me I don't know about the salt belt. I paid $600 for my B2 and and it has light surface right on the sheet metal where the paint has been compromised by impacts, the underside is immaculate.

oh i certainly know your in the salt belt.....just not as bad as some places

admittedly, i would be surprised if your rig is as clean as the one in the ad....

but i would bet against it in the extreme details unless its under 30 k original miles and never seen snow.

where i am in florida right now the trucks seem mint....but not mew mexico mint. the last three b2's i looked at here were way overpriced comparatively.
