1200$ is rediculous for a motor like that. you can find a completely stock 302 out of a mustang that runs very well and you wont have to touch besides cleaning and paint for at the most $500 or buy a jasper motor with a 3year warranty for $900 like my buddy did. i would not build that motor or persue it any further

well theres no scaring or deep scratches on the walls.. and i was gonna get it bored more anyways,my dad says he thinks the engine over heated once before thats why the piston cracked and it has a ridge at the top of the walls.. other than that it ran perfectly fine no knocks or loud noises just blowing blue smoke.. and the reason for the smoke was the rings and valve stem seals those are hard as rock and crack when i sqeeze them

well this is also a learning experience sowhat i planned on doing was ge a old engine, strip it down, rebuild it and run it.. and the price for the machine shop is just an estimate it depends if they have to do somthing or not like if the crank is already balanced and good enough for they specs they wont touch it.. same with the harmonic and flywheel .. cause they said balancing is wat most of the cost is.. the machine shop is basicly doing basic stuff to it but a comeplete job they are even gonna assemble the heads for me if i need to valve springs.. and also with this shop if i dont have all the money right away i can do payments on it and still take my engine home because i have a good friend that works there

a balanced squared decked setup for 1200 is a good price. a beat to fawk 500 dollar engine is fun and a roll of the dice.

but anything more then 30 over on a 302 is stupid with stock blocks....the lil bastards are cheap to begin with. thats a waste of 1200 dollars...most machine shops i deal with would tell me to fawk off if i wanted more then 240 hp out of a block like this one....

evidence of "hot" and being ridged at 30 over is smelter fodder.

hate to see you learn that one the hard way, but the hard way was my lesson often as well...good luck.

thanks for the input bobby... im gonna ask the machine shop what they think i should do with the block because they told me they are gonna mic the bores to see how much more we need to go to get rid of the ridge.. me being a machinst the ridge doesnt look to be more than .01 anyways but you can feel it with ur finger nail

wooot woot got my sand blaster hooked up, started cleaning some parts and man for a $20 siphen fed nozzle it cleans rust pretty dam well... only thing that sucks is my air compressor doesnt pump enough air to keep it going so i have to stop, wait and start again.. oh well i can usually get 1 peice done each time that happens

doing the whole rear end tomorrow once i drill and tap a drain plug on the bottom

the one that came out of the bronco has a problem... i cant exactly pin point it.. if its the shifter forks or the shift rails, with the detant balls and springs... but it doesnt shift, but all gears and seals are excellent on it,

the one that i just bought is fully rebuilt and thats not for sale lol xP

i was going to use it and make a doubler with my bw1354 (i have 2 of these btw, one electric shift one manual, the manual is blown though)

but i dont know make me an offer
