Well this is version 2 of my old thread, since the whole process turned 180degrees the other direction, and the 88 is being brought back to life!

What's going on:
- 2.9 engine pulled
- 2.9 cleaned and rebuilt
- 2.9 painted
- frame cleaning/derusting/painting with tractor paint
- body work and paint
- interior stripped and replaced
- chop top? Roll cage?
- 4.0 flywheel, clutch, starter?

Here are the pictures!

Well damn. I was pulling the b2 out of the carport today and stupidly let a string of wiring harness' drag the ground and it got pulled by the tire and broke a few and tore wires apart. Are the molex connectors used a universal size that can be bought individually or do I have to buy a whole new harness, or junk yard one?

May I suggest putting a whole 4.0 setup in there. I would highly recommend it.

I used 'Vintage Connections' when restoring my motorcycle harness. Don't recall if they make OEM Ford replacements but at least it proves that sort of thing IS out there.

Keep up the good work:icon_thumby:

The problem is finding a 4.0 to use. The only one I know of was a buddys truck that he rolled a few days ago, and other than that no scrap yard has the whole setup for a good price that is reasonable. I may try bartering with my local scrapyard to trade a 2.9 and a 2.8 for a 4.0 with everything on it and low miles.

I'll keep looking! Thank you for the compliment!

Lookin good! I say go with the 2.9 it will be simple and you won't have to look so hard or pay as much for parts! Besides the 2.9 has more low end torque than the 4.0 don't it?

Definitely... Not.

The 2.9L is a decent motor, but with the 4.0L available (and as easy a swap as it is), I'd be much more inclined to drop that in there instead. The gas penalty is usually less than 2 MPG (depending on your prior driving habits it could even be about the same MPG too).

If I can even find a 4.0 to put in it!

Just remember Craigslist is your friend in finding a donor explorer.
